Organic Gardening Tips

GARDENING TIP #1: We have had success using colloidal silver as a non-toxic fungicide on plants and fruit trees.  It must be done “in due season” and may need to be reapplied.

GARDENING TIP #2We have found it useful to use diatomaceous earth for several different kinds of bugs in the garden. It is nontoxic to humans and pets.  A sprinkling of this is helpful to control flea beetles.  I have found this must be reapplied after rain, etc.

GARDENING TIP #3Soapy water sprayed directly on aphids is a simple cure. We use a simple liquid castile soap. Make sure you use a plain soap, not a fancy one with sodium laurel sulfate, etc. Things like dish soap may burn the plant. Spray in the morning or evening. Reapplication in some cases may be necessary. Insects breath through there skin. Covering them completely is important since this method basically suffocates them.
